POST FOR THE WEEK (First Week of Feb)

For the first week of February, my post.

First of all, this is the link to a previous post
that is germane for the next week and beyond.

Remember, in a bit over two weeks you'll need
to have 12 pages of Image/Text--start plastering
the pages.

In Abstract Expressionism read from page 14 through
page 18, and page 42 through page 69.

I know I've not talked much about the American Hybrid
but I will on Monday--we're covering a wide field of subjects
and ideas, so it's all like a slowly drifting ship.

Read the Capps book through to the end and WRITE
your poem--the Capps imitation. The poem is due
on Feb. 3.

Read John Ashbery's sestina ("Farm Implements and
Rutabagas in a Landcscape") and The Sonnets, by
Ted Berrigan, in the packet I handed out. Read "The Note"
on Gertrude Stein in the packet as well.

On Monday, Feb 8, there will be a short quiz on Abstract
Expressionism. I'll explain further on Wednesday, Feb 3.

I'll hand out some Dictionary Sonnets on Monday
by Laynie Browne. We will write in the lab on Feb 3.
