POST OF APRIL 13

As I said in a sent message, sorry no post appeared. I just sent
two messages. For the rest of the classes bring your collage books.
The rest is in the messages I sent. I will grade your collage books
while you work on them tomorrow. We will simply work on
these things--poems and "collages" for the rest of the term. I graded
the tests and will hand them back.

POST for April 5 and Beyond

Ok, there will be the shortest quiz on Wednesday. This will
be on Warhol and Wesselmann and George Segal, the last three
artists (almost) in the pop art book.

Mostly at this stage it's writing and collaging. I'll bring
in various poems from which you'll work (using the poems
as models).

So bring the collage stuff everyday, tho we may not do it
every day. And bring paper for writing poems.

In other words, process now--the making of things--will
predominate, along with examples drawn from various sources.

Pay attention more pointedly to the lists enumerating
the assignments for the collagebook and the different
poems as we go along.

Remember, you hand in the next batch of poems on Monday--
from the poems utilizing single vowels to the Daniels and Zimmer
poems of last week.

I want to look at some more photography on Monday (online).

Comics, photography, collage, poems . . . this is where your
head need to be . . . As Kelly W said last week, "I can't
believe I get a grade for getting to do this!" She is making
a collage out of a bag of soup beans.

I am going to open up things so that we share our work
(I don't want to workshop--just share--explore a little)
in both visual art and the poetry.

PRETTY SIMPLE

If you didn't get the sheet I passed out on 3/24
it is in the box outside my office. That, and the poem packet
including poems by Jim Daniels and Paul Zimmer.

That includes what you NEED TO BE DOING so get that info.

In the meantime, read the entire of David B's Nocturnal Conspiracies
for Monday (3/29) and the entire of the Pop Art book for 3/31.

Bring collage books and materials to work on on 3/31.

All your poems are due on April 5.

I have, in brown envelopes, the last set of poems by Brenna,
Kelly, Andrew, Clara, and Mike in the box outside my office
door as well.

POST FOR MARCH 24 AND BEYOND

These are the books you will need from now until the
end of the semester. Simply bring them every day.

American Hybrid--1/11/2010--5/2010

Nocturnal Conspiracies--1/25/2010--1/27/2010; 3/24/2010--5/10

25 Under 25--3/3/10--5/10

Pop Art--3/30/10--5/10

The End of the West--2/10/10--5/10

Remember--no class on March 22 (I'll be Northern Michigan).

We'll meet on March 24.

You have only one assignment for the time being, other
than the photography response (it's due on the 24th).

That's to read pp. 12 through 18 (end at the end of the
paragraph where "popular iconography" appears) in Pop Art.

So, really, read a little, do the photo thing, and
just bring all the books and await
further instructions on March 24.
